Mr GREG WARREN (Campbelltown)—It is with sadness that I acknowledge the passing of Sue Gay, a dedicated community member, passionate conservationist, and tireless advocate for the wildlife of Appin and the Greater Macarthur region. Sue devoted much of her life to protecting the natural environment she loved, becoming a respected voice in the fight to preserve critical koala habitat and native bushland in Appin and the broader South West Sydney region. Having lived in the Appin area for more than four decades, Sue developed a deep connection to the landscape, its wildlife, and the local community. Together with her family, she worked to raise awareness of the challenges facing local wildlife. Along with her late husband John, Sue's commitment to conservation was unwavering. She participated in community campaigns, planning consultations, and parliamentary inquiries, speaking passionately for the protection of wildlife corridors and environmentally significant land. Those who knew Sue remember her determination, generosity, and courage. Her legacy lives on through the many people she inspired to protect the unique natural heritage of Appin and its surrounds. She will be remembered as a guardian of the environment whose voice made a lasting difference to her community and to the wildlife she defended.
